We are delighted to invite an artist to spend a designated period of time working with us on collaborative art projects. The purpose of this residency is to provide the artist with the opportunity to create new work, engage with the community, and often to share their expertise through educational activities.
Our residency encourages community participation in the arts. By hosting public events, exhibitions, and collaborative projects, the artist helps to build a sense of community and fosters a deeper appreciation for the arts.
Michelle Hickey Legge is a visual artist and maker and balances her art practice between her native Shannon and Doolin in North Clare. She is a Graduate from TUS Limerick School of Art and Design, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fine Art Sculpture and Combined Media 2021. She is currently undertaking her MA in Fine Art in LSAD and is Artist in Residence with the Galway Wool Co-op and Wool in School 2023 as part of her MA. Hickey mainly works in abstract form and the subject matter influences the type of medium she uses and the outcome of her work. She finds beauty in repetition and aims to develop a tacit knowledge of materials by working with them intuitively and embracing their tactile qualities.
